Stock major indexes post a modest rebound Wednesday: |  After a shaky start to trade Wednesday, stocks rebounded to end with modest gains as Fed Chief Bernanke seems to have calmed investors with his talk with Congress Wednesday morning. Economic data didn't help matters with data showing manufacturing contracting and GDP for fourth-quarter being revised lower. Being last trade of February, fund managers could be sprucing up month-end with buying-  could be why markets ended somewhat higher today-  tomorrows market will be important in deciding if the bears or bulls are in control. U.S. stock market is slammed by sellers Tuesday: Stocks plunge Tuesday losing more than 3-percent as investors and traders dump stocks on concerns that the U.S. economy is slowing, as news this morning that China's stock market lost more than 9-percent on its economic slowdown concerns. At one point the Dow lost more than 4-percent when it dived 500 plus points in afternoon trade. The long awaited sell off of equities appears to be here, as there hasn't been a valid correction for some time. The DJIA lost 3.3 percent, the S&P 500 lost 3.5 percent, and the NASDAQ lost 3.9 percent.
